Leicester Caribbean Carnival 2022 welcomes everyone to Victoria Park, Leicester, on Carnival Day, August 6th. Our theme for this year is “Our Culture, Our Roots”. Activities begin with the official Opening Ceremony at the De Montfort Hall on Granville Road entrance at 12 noon. This will be followed by the ribbon cutting by the Reigning Carnival Queen to signal the start of the Carnival Day Parade. This year Promises several new additions to our programme. There will be six performance areas, including the Main Stage with a full lineup of artists, including K Soul from London, two artists from Britains Got Reggae, Nia The Songbird, Force One Band, and Tanni Browne and Crew, Dancers and other artists. Jah Tubby’s World System will replace Abashanti, who cannot attend this year's event. Also at Carnival village is the ever-popular Soca Village, Viking Sound System in the troupe's performance area. Red Bull will be introducing young DJs to its portable Music System. As usual, there will be the Funfair, but this year, it will feature a children’s Funfair separate from the funfair for the adults. Boxing fans will also get the opportunity to get autographs from Boxing Legend Frank Bruno, who will be present on Carnival Day. So far, Preparations for the carnival parade are in full swing, with up to 22 costumed bands and floats on parade. See you there.
Carnival Day 2022 will feature Four live music stages including the Main Stage with a variety of performances, Soca Village Stage, Viking Sounds at the Troupe Performance area and the Dub Music Stage near the War Memorial. Our vendors will provide their usual fares and more in our food, Art and Craft and promotional areas, while other forms of entertainment will be available at the large funfair which will be divided into two sections, one for the children and the other for the adults.
